The community of Calgary has done it again in supporting local business, artists and a national charitable foundation in Canada.

Runway for the Cure, in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, proudly presented by Ferrari Maserati of Alberta, Rolls-Royce Motorcars Alberta, Jackie Duncan Photography and SophiaModels International, took center stage in December 2014 with an awe-inspiring lineup of fashion designers showcasing their creative talents. The event’s runway was walked by collections done by four talented local designers and live musical performances from Justine Tyrell and Ellen Doty.

Jackie Duncan and Maria Wells, founder and organizers of the event, were blown away and pleasantly surprised by the support by community businesses and public attendees of the event.

“I am so grateful to everyone involved. I have only heard positive things come from Runway for the Cure,” Duncan said.

“It is always amazing to work with talented people but even more amazing when everyone involved is there for a cause.”

Even though the primary reason for the event was to raise funds for breast cancer research and community support, Runway for the Cure brought together the community of Calgary in a volunteer showcase of the city’s giving society.

“Every person involved in Runway For The Cure volunteered their time,” Duncan explained.

“It is so amazing to know that the community of Calgary jumped on board with the idea, which is what made it such a huge success.”

Designers, Averynthe, Aduké Couture, Modern Menswear & N.R.T. Fashions with featured artists Lauren Hart Yoga, UGO by Frank Wilder, I Love Hoola Hoops and GrainLine Clothing were all in attendance for the successful reviewed show.

SophiaModels International graciously placed their models into the designer’s collections. Over ten other community supporters of the event and the venue sponsor, Ferrari Maserati of Alberta, all contributed and ensured the wonderful accomplishments of the charitable showcase.

Duncan didn’t realize how well the event took off in Calgary until the photos and videos started to showcase themselves and felt she had accomplished her reasoning in organizing the event.

“All we knew was [we had] to keep focus on our two overall goals,” she said.

“First being, that everyone from designers, models, volunteers and especially guests enjoyed themselves and secondly, the most important, raising as much money as possible for the [Canadian] Breast Cancer Foundation.”
